![]() ![]() The injustice of letting this man walk free caused a protest march in which individuals in the community wore a hoodie with the hood pulled up to make a statement upon Tariq Johnson being shot for wearing a hoodie. Yet, no one believes this story from what they know about Tariq. As the story progresses it is trying to unravel the night Tariq was shot however, the shooter, Jack Franklin, was able to be released from police custody as he claimed to be defending himself from Tariq and was then justified as a homicide. ![]() Onto the following days after Tariq’s death, Magoon describes the reactions and statements of the community of Underhill, the town in which Tariq lived in. In “How It Went Down” by Kekla Magoon, the author introduces the incident of the murder of Tariq Johnson along with a suspect, Jack Franklin, who was at the scene of the crime presented as a police report. ![]()
