The jokes just didn't land-there's an entire book of Karen jokes, and how is it appropriate to have female freedom fighters written off as Karens-and were lacking. This whole book feels like going through the motions and lacks the heart the others in the series possess. (Not surprising as LR's whole schtick is Bratty Heroines, so they usually have maturity issues.) ![]() John is not an enjoyable scythkin to read (I think he's my least favorite of the batch I would even go so far as to say I actively dislike him), and Itch is very repetitive in her thought process, which is shallow and juvenile. The first third or so is, frankly, a snooze. Renard that have left a really sour taste in my mouth. Things I thought were flukes in that book, I'm realizing seem to be by design and hint at some really ugly misogynist beliefs in Ms. ![]() This book had similar issues to number 2 in the series, Interstellar Human Petting Zoo. If I didn't value my Kindle, I would have chucked it a few times in the final third of the book. I really love the Possessive Aliens series and usually enjoy these a lot and laugh the whole time but.this one? I didn't laugh so much and a lot about it makes me angry. ![]()
